Activities...

Chamonix in the summer is thriving with activity as much as in the winter, perhaps even more! Once the snow melts away from the lower mountain ranges, the pistes are opened up once more for walking, climbing and mountain biking.

The higher areas of the Chamonix mountain range is still covered in snow, and so ice climbing, walking and ski touring are among the activities on offer here.

If you're ideal summer holiday involves slightly less action, why not kick back and relax at town level and enjoy a leisurely lunch at outside one of the many restaurants, and then soak up the rays at the lakes? Or even a spa day at the local thermal baths in St. Gervais?

Activities on offer in the summertime include...

- High or low walking and hiking
- Climbing - indoor, mountains, bolted, ice
- Indoor & outdoor tennis
- 18 Hole golf course & driving range
- Summer luge and playpark
- Paintballing
- Zoo nearby at Merlet
- Mountain trains and cable car rides
- Visit the top of Aiguille du Midi for a view of the Mont Blanc mountain range
- Swimming pools
- Ice skating rink
- Mountain biking
- Ski tours
- Paragliding
- White water rafting
- Fishing
- Spa days
- Visit the ice grottos with the Montenvers train

When to Travel...

May
May is a quite time in the valley, after the madness of the ski season has died down. There is still some snow up high so skiing and ski touring is available, as well as some walking.

June, July & August

The valley starts to liven up in June, and July & August are the busiest months of the season. Great walking, climbing and biking is available. The ski lifts are all open, so take the lifts up and bike down!

September

The weather can still be hot in September, and most activities are still on offer - a great time for a quick get away!

October & November

The valley quietens down again after the busy period. The weather changes, and the first snowfalls arrive in the mountains, and sometimes at town level.
